Mr. Hunt received the Combat Bar, the Atlantic War Zone Medal, the Pacific War Zone Bar, the Victory Medal, the Honorable Service Button and the Merchant Marine Service Emblem for his service during WWII.

The recent Belated Thank You to the Merchant Mariners of World War II Act of 2007 was passed recognizing Merchant Marines as military veterans of WWII.

Air Station Houston personnel participate in wet drills on the beach in Glaveston, Texas.

Air Station Houston personnel participate in wet drills on the beach in Galveston, Texas, on Wednesday, Nov. 5, 2008.

Those participating fired off flares and practiced entering a life-raft in the event of an aircraft emergency. Air Station Houston rescue swimmers assited throughout the drills by providing input regarding the necessary survival skills and running the drills.  Following the wet drills, personnel had lunch on the beach.
