GULF STRIKE TEAM ASSISTS EPA |
Two members of the Gulf Strike Team are working today with the Environmental Protection Agency in providing federal oversight, documentation and site safety at a former wood treating facility in Winchester, Ky.
The GST members deployed Monday to assist the EPA with cleanup operations that began in 2007. The work includes securing the site, cleaning debris, arranging for the offsite disposal of wood treating chemicals and a comprehensive sampling investigation to determine if soil removal or capping would be required. Subsequent cleanup operations at the site are expected to continue through June 2008.
