ASTORIA, Ore.— The Coast Guard, in partnership with the Alaska Marine Safety Education Association and American Red Cross, are scheduled to offer three safety courses to commercial fisherman beginning Mar. 9- Mar. 18 in Charleston and Harbor, Ore. Courses offered include an 18-hour Drill Conductor Course, a Stability Course, and an American Red Cross First Aid/CPR Course. The free 18-hr Drill Conductor Course will teach emergency procedures and use of safety equipment aboard commercial fishing vessels. This two-day course is scheduled for Mar. 9-10 in Charleston, Ore., and 15-16 in Harbor, Ore., from 7:45 a.m. – 5:00 p.m. The free Stability Course will teach stability principles aboard commercial fishing vessels. This one-day course is scheduled for Mar. 11 in Charleston, Ore., and Mar. 17 in Harbor, Ore., from 7:45 a.m. – 5:00 p.m. The American Red Cross First Aid/CPR Course will provide students with the opportunity to receive training cards for First Aid and CPR including the use of AEDs. This one-day course is scheduled for Mar. 12 in Charleston, Ore. and Mar. 18 in Harbor, Ore., from 7:45 a.m. – 5:00 p.m. Cost is $8.00. Pre-registration is required and space is limited.
